First Church is excited to welcome local choral director and composer, Greg Murai, as artist in residence.

Organ Concerts

We are committed to providing concerts and events which reach out to our community. Organ concerts are Wednesdays from 12:15 pm to 1pm. Ron McKean plays a variety of music by composers known worldwide.

Acolyte Schedule

Among the many ways that young people lead the congregation in worship is as acolytes. The word "acolyte" comes from the Greek word meaning "to follow"--acolytes are first of all followers of Christ. Their role is to carry the light of Christ (symbolized in their lighting wands) into the sanctuary at the beginning of worship to remind us all of God's presence with us. At the conclusion of the service they carry the light of Christ out into the world, following Christ and leading us to carry that light with us in service to the world that God loves. Children from 2nd grade to 7th grade participate in the program. Please contact Di Pagel, Director of Christian Education, if your child would like to be trained as an acolyte.

Presbyterian Peacemaking Program: Gaza Conflict

Music Guild

A subcommittee of the Worship committee, the Music Guild has two functions. The first is to serve as support to public performances. The Guild will support the program, and help with tickets and publicity. The Guild also supports the Music Director with worship music by providing feedback and input on musical selections.

Sanctuary Guild

This guild has the privilege of stewarding the Sanctuary by being responsible for the following: tidying the pews, general upkeep of the appearance of the Sanctuary , narthex, and restroom areas; seasonal banners and stoles; flowers and candles; special liturgical art. This guild is a support to the worship committee.

Rosales Pipe Organ, Opus 16

The Rosales Pipe Organ, Opus 16 is used for worship service at First Church. The Organ was dedicated on October 17, 1993. In building the Opus 16, Rosales Organ Builders chose to preserve the handcrafted wooden facade and 75% of the original pipes from the Kimball Organ which had been used since the church was constructed in 1913.
